Hi there! Thanks for stopping by. We are excited to tell you all about what we're baking!
Butter and Rose came into existence in 2022, but has been a long time in the making. From the first basic pound cake I ever made over 15 years ago (a Paula Dean clunker, but I daresay it was delicious) to the lavender pound cake I glazed just this morning, baking has brought me SO. MUCH. JOY. over the years, it is hard to put it into words (and much easier to put it in frosting). Baking has let me be my truest self (the exacting, obsessive version) because that's what good baking expects from the baker.
Fast forward many baking lessons, hundreds of cakes, countless pounds of butter, a French Pastry Arts certification, and a tornado of a toddler later, I created Butter and Rose to share my love of baking with the world (well, at least the world that's presently near my zip code). The Butter part is self-explanatory, but why Rose? There's something universal about the Rose flavor - while it is sometimes overdone, frequently messed up and mostly underrated, it is a flavor like no other, and to me, it represents beauty, elegance and decadence, all of which I like to channel through my baking (yes, even the "healthy-ish" stuff). It walks the line between familiar and exotic, is used in savory and sweet cookery the world over, and did I mention it makes everything look pretty? I hope that's enough of an explanation, but if you don't believe me, try the Rose Pistachio cake. There's 5 kinds of it you can choose from!
Check out our offerings, read more about what we are baking up here (and why), and if you are near enough, order from us to taste the love (and butter)!
We're a seasonal bake shop where everything is made to order and every detail fussed over - we hope we get a chance to share a slice (or 5) with you soon!
Happy eating!
